Permission for joy

Hi everyone. It’s Catherine Greer writing to you, author of The Bittersweet Bakery Cafe, lover of this beach above, mum of adult sons, believer in early mornings, hot coffee, small dogs and long walks.

If this week has been tricky for you I have something to share today.

Honestly, truly, give yourself permission to let in some joy.

Without even realising it, our lives can become so full of what we should be doing—or even what we should love.

Instead, just for this day, think about what honestly gives you joy.

And do a bit of that.

For me, here’s a quick list:

  • First-thing-in-the-morning coffee in my favourite chair, laptop on my lap, writing.

  • Planning a family Sunday dinner and deciding which dessert I’ll make.

  • Setting the table with candles, and clivias from the garden. The orange blooms look gorgeous in a vase (no arranging required, see above).

  • A dog walk and a phone call with a favourite cousin.

It’s the simple things, right?

It’s always the simple things.

I hope you find a way to take charge of this day and make yourself happy. You deserve it. We all do.

Love Catherine x
