Hello and happy weekend!
How are you? (How are you really?)
I’m thinking of you on this gorgeous Sunday morning in Sydney, and I have a little life lesson I’ve learned that I’d like to share…plus super fun Fun Stuff. Ready? Let’s go!
I’ve been rushing around, overcommitting, and worrying about so many things that were completely out of my control.
It’s the old lesson from Stephen Covey called Circle of Concern and I was very firmly in the dark grey space.
I was CONCERNED about all these work things I had absolutely no ability to CONTROL. But man, was I working it. I was running, racing, feeling alarmed, waking up at 2am, hiding my overwhelm and just generally feeling like work was a train and I was running towards it on the tracks.
And then one night when I couldn’t sleep at 3:24am, I did the wrong thing and opened up Instagram.
And I saw this:
It was a little video…featuring Mr Skelly, the artwork of @1924us.
Here’s the second part of the video:
Maybe you need this reminder, too?
For all of us who work so hard, racing around, helping others, putting out fires we haven’t started, being the one to solve the problem (or at least try to), maybe it’s time to take our hands off that wheel.
Sunday is a perfect day to rest.
Don’t set yourself on fire to keep others warm.
I hope you have a beautiful day today, with someone doing something lovely for you that eases your burdens and makes your step a little lighter.
Love,
Catherine x
P.S. The Fun Stuff!
25 years ago today I became a mum. It’s the job I’m proudest of in my life. I’ve given it my all through these years, and can’t wait to see what the future brings for you, Luke Bradshaw Sunday (Me: Why did you add Sunday? Luke, age 3: Because I love it.)
The link to the @1924us video above, with other great reminders, too.
These linen pants — love the wide hem, which makes them hang beautifully. They’ll sell out soon.
Need a little fake tan on your legs? I love this one. A bit pricey, but so good.
Do you live near Geraldton, WA? I’ll be at the Big Sky Readers and Writers Festival on 24-26 October. Would love to see you there!
